Should we have a national lottery to pay down the national debt?

The national debt is about 8.8 trillion dollars. There are about 300 million people in the U.S. If we can get 50 million of them to buy a $5 lottery ticket to win $50 million, and hold the lottery on a monthly basis, while keeping the deficit from getting any bigger we could pay off that debt in 3,667 years.
